Just to let you know about what is coming for the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
New Immunization Requirements for the 2014-2015 school year
Any child entering kindergarten, sixth grade, or ninth grade will have to show proof of having received two doses of the varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, the first dose on or after their first birthday and the second dose no less than 28 days after the first dose, or proof of chickenpox disease
Any child entering preschool will be required to have received the appropriate series of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (pneumococcal pneumonia)
And not to forget, that all students in 6th-12th must have a Tdap vaccination on file(this was a requirement starting in the 2013-2014 school year) Proposed Requirements for the 2015-2016 School Year: Any child entering into 6th grade must show proof of one dose of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (meningitis) And, any child entering 12th grade must show proof of two doses of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (meningitis). The second dose must be after 16 years of age. (If the first dose was given after the 16th birthday, only one dose is required at the 12th grade entry). Please address these new requirements with your child's doctor.
