District Curriculum

The New Illinois Learning Standards has incorporated the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

These new standards will help students be better prepared for college and the work place.

 

The Common Core State Standards establish clear and consistent goals for learning that will prepare our children for college and the work place. These standards define the knowledge and skills students should have within their K-12 education careers so that they will graduate from high school able to succeed in entry-level, credit-bearing academic college courses and in workforce training programs. The Standards are research and evidence based, aligned with college and work expectations, rigorous, and internationally benchmarked.

The main reason for the CCSS is to ensure that all students are college and career prepared.  Common standards will: help ensure students, no matter where they live, are receiving a high-quality, skill based education that is aligned to best practice. Common standards will allow us to finally be able to compare apples to apples.
